So this week I was asked to explore the website http://turbulence.org/. With my freshly corrupted innocent mind, having accidentally stumbled across a very disturbed artist, (wouldn’t surprise me to hear she spends her Friday nights partying on down at the local mental asylum), I would like to refer you to said website before you read any further, check it out, then come back.

To view the video go to the site below then click on the link entitled ‘Website impersonations: Ten Most Visited’, after you have done that simply keep clicking the blue looking ‘extraterrestrial being’ until it loads… good-luck, and brace yourself.

So you now ask the question…Is it a bird? Is it a feather-headed martian? Don’t be stupid, It’s obviously a snorkler that has merely plunged into a pool of blue paint, stuck blue feathers and ornaments on its head expressing spectacular Pilates movements, oh and how original … wearing a cape… as you do.

Sorry to get you’re little high hopes up, but alas it is not a crazy snorkler it is infact Ursula Enlicher, a performance artist – good excuse eh?

This piece ‘#5 – Myspace.com’ that we have now shared together is a video that showcases our crazy blue coloured friend dancing along to accordion/keyboard music,, with projections of myspace flashing in the background, and as mentioned before those infectious physical movements. This is meant to exemplify the idea that if a human were a ‘myspace’ then this is what it would look like… something to aspire to I think.

Nevertheless she uses a lot of web-based interactivity as the main fuel behind her artistic fire, bet you never guess that eh? Just incase you missed ‘the clue’, those three growths on the back of her head actually represent the three round figures of the myspace logo. The art that you have just been viewing is from a series by Ursula Enlicher entitled ‘Website Impersonations: The Ten Most Visited’. Her performance art is based on the use of html-movement-library, where she enacts 10 different popular websites by dressing up in ‘character’ and impersonating the site through movement and some hell crazy choreography.

My life is so much more the richer now having experienced this. Catch you next time.
