Snap.
You had your eyes shut didn’t you? I think its time that I ease them open… with a WHACK! Welcome to the mystical yet magical world of lomography.
Think chunky, think plastic, think vivid, think dare I say the unplanned nature of spontaneity… scary I know. What would a life be without plans, frames, times and rules?
It may be hard to get your narrow-minded mind around this but yes, there actually is a world outside of digital pixels and images distributed on small screens and camera phones.
Do not fret my little woodland friends! It is I, Chanelle, here to save you from a future filled with mundane activity, cheesy snapshots, bunnie ears and heaven forbid the peace sign. Oh yes, I think I can safely say on behalf of the world that it is now officially over done, I blame the Asians…. No offence.
So. Lets start a fresh. (So berry soddy Asians). I am here to help revolutionise the picture communication world, reawake your vision, explore the grey regions, by giving you a taste of my favorite website… oh and to join forces with me and become a lomographer.
Recently I have had an intimate love affair with ‘toy-like’ cameras, some of these being the Holga (my selected favorite), the Fisheye, and the LC-A (very expensive, and as it always turns out, is now broken, purely because it cost the most). They all fall under the ‘lomography’ family tree. You could somewhat call me a photo-adventurer, actually that sounds rather nice, done, *ahem* Chanelle the photo-adventurer.
To give your imagination an insightful ‘lift’ check out www.lomography.com, a website that spreads the merry message that lomography is all about not following any rules. Rebellious I know. Your senses go into cardiac arrest, instantaneously you are drawn to the electric bursts of colour, naturalness and impulse driven images that these highly idiosyncratic cameras produce. Simply fabulous no doubt. These images are spread throughout the website as the site is not only a shop, an artists online gallery portraying their individual photographic masterpieces, but, it is also a learning centre holding all the tricks and tips to help you to become a truly virtuoso Lomographer. So get hip and check it.
